No special qualifications are necessary to become a Home-
Talking and listening can empower families to overcome their difficult situations. Volunteers are offered on-going training and support activities including specialist speakers and visits to family support services, as well as informal social gatherings.

Who can volunteer?
We’re looking for people who:
- Are parents or have parenting experience
- Can commit 2–3 hours a week for at least one year
- Are non‑judgmental, patient, and understanding
- Respect confidentiality at all times
What You’ll Be Doing
- Visiting a family in their home once a week
- Offering emotional and practical support tailored to their needs
- Building a trusting, supportive relationship over time
- Keeping in touch with and being supported by a Home‑Start co‑ordinator
Training & Support
- You’ll attend a free Volunteer Preparation Course before being matched with a family
- Ongoing support and regular supervision provided
- Travel expenses are paid
Safer Recruitment
- All volunteers will complete an enhanced DBS check
