It has been a busy summer at Home-Start Teesside, with lots of opportunities for the families we support to get out, have fun and spend time together.
Over the summer, we have been involved in a range of family activities and community events across Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar & Cleveland. Families have enjoyed outdoor play, meeting other parents and children, exploring new places and simply having the chance to enjoy some time together.
Our summer programme included the Best Start Family Fun Fest at Kirkleatham, Between the Tides and a special afternoon at Redcar beach. At the beach, families flew kites, built sandcastles and enjoyed chips together, while parents had the opportunity to chat and connect with others.
For some of the families we support, getting out and about with young children is not always easy. Cost, isolation, confidence and the challenges of everyday family life can all be barriers. Providing free and welcoming opportunities gives families the chance to take part without worrying about the cost.
Most importantly, these events are about more than having a day out. They give parents an opportunity to build connections, and children the chance to play, explore and make happy memories.
We would like to thank all the families who joined us throughout the summer, along with our volunteers, staff and supporters who helped make the activities possible.
As summer comes to an end, our family support continues. We will be there for families across Teesside through the autumn and beyond, helping parents through the difficult times and celebrating the good times too.
Because childhood can’t wait.
